Question description

you will discuss the evolution of words and how language is created to explain the world around you and how you interact with that world. To prepare for Seminar, please come to class with a list of words that were “active” when you were growing up, but now are no longer used or a list of words that are “new.” For example, one word that was used years ago was “phonograph” and then ”hi-fi” was popular. Now, neither term is in your everyday vocabulary, and both have been replaced with “CD player” or “MP3 player.”What are the strengths and weaknesses of each of the theories of language acquisition that led to the current emphasis on pragmatics as seen in the child talk interpretation of the social interactionist view?
