Statement of Academic Purpose

I have always enjoyed reading widely, particularly history and politics books. History as a subject was my favourite while in high school, and it still is as I often spend much of my time in libraries researching more on this subject area. Similarly, this interest in past events formed a robust foundation for my interest in political traditions, especially my country.
and it allowed me to work as a independent journalist on couple of protests in my country back in the time. Through such, the desire to study politics equally grew. In several instances, my high school teachers would comment on my history grades and hint that studying history, politics, or their related aspects at higher levels would be the best choice.
Life is an unending learning experience that requires one’s comprehension of their strengths and weaknesses. One of my greatest strengths relevant to this programme includes my attention to detail. While this trait is mainly intrinsic, I have nurtured this strength by never overlooking finer instructions, especially during examinations, thus minimizing errors. Additionally, I am a critical thinker that improves my reflection and analysis of significant historical and political happenings. Lastly, I portray strong time management and organization skills as I manage studying in the university and working part time.
I am particularly interested in diplomatic history that emphasizes the relationship between nations, peace, and human rights. I believe that in-depth comprehension of this specialization will quench my curiosity for past data in these associations and modify my perception of that which works today and how this will transform in the future.
Similarly, I believe that history is the mother of politics. Thus, venturing into higher learning in this domain will form a robust foundation for my journey into the realm of politics. At the end of the course, I would like to engage in political communication professionally. This domain is mostly an interdisciplinary field. Various academic works within this course will promote my work in the area. For example, studying the various government operations over time will ensure I grasp the critical tenets of communication maintenance between policymakers, citizens, and the media. In most instances, how governments communicated in the past significantly differs from how they approach it in the present day. Similarly, the course will enhance my appreciation for cultural subtleties and improve my comprehension of the variance in how countries interact and how these have transformed over time. Such will improve my status in this career path and set me apart from my colleagues.
Lastly, while still in high school, I volunteered in Module United Nations Program. I believe this experience nurtured my desire for a career path in history and its related areas as I am aware how to represent myself and engage in a complicated conversations.
