There is becoming an increasing enhancement on centering care and empowerment for our patients. We are trying to offer our patients more information and involvement in their treatment and knowledge of their care. Allowing the patient to become more involved in their care is allowing our patient to have more control for their preferences, values, needs, and cultures. Literature Review Morgan and Yoder wrote an article using Walker and Avant’s model theory to explore care centered on the patient. There were four main analyses that assist in patient centered care, those being the care should be individualized to the patient, respectful, empowering, and holistic in order to enhance the health outcomes of our patients. Care centered on the patient is one of the key components of excellent quality care. Quality care is invested more so now in training then before within the healthcare industry. Week 8: Course Reflection and Future Application Truthfully, when I saw I had to take another nursing theory class I was kind of dreading it. I will be honest when I say that I used to not think of theories often. I will also be honest when I say, I was wrong. There are so many theories I learned so much about, which provided me with a new insight on the care I provide for my patients. I tried to learn about as many theories as possible to be able to apply them in different situations I may encounter. The nursing theory I have chosen to discuss in week 8 is Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory. I have chosen this theory because I believe it can be applied to a variety of situations. Orem’s theory can be related to patients of all ages, with a diverse array of health history and social situations. Not only can it be related to patients, it can also be related to the nurse. Concept Analysis of Ambient Noise A concept is a formulation of an idea that is a manifestation of incidences or a set of concerns. But first, in order for the concept to evolve into theory, it must first go through the rigors of analysis. The concept that has been selected is the concept of ambient noise and its relation to Florence Nightingale’s Environmental Theory.
