My Topic: National Organization for Women (NOW) was founded, one of the first targets of their work was women and minority representation at NASA. (why?) They filed a formal complaint about NASA’s discrimination against women and other minorities and their work forced NASA to put together a committee on equal opportunity, headed by Ruth Bates Harris. Her duties were – even before she started on day one – reduced and constrained. Two years later, she issued a summary report saying “NASA’s equal opportunity program is a near-total failure” and was immediately fired for it. This set off a firestorm of bad press and before the year was out the Senate doubled the budget of NASA’s equal opportunity office and Harris would be re-hired.
Criteria: Citation will be followed by 4-5 sentences (e.g. don’t copy the abstract / intro) telling me what the source is about and what it will provide for your paper. NOT MORE THAN 2 OF YOUR 6 SOURCES CAN BE WEBPAGES. (ps. Journal articles found on a website are still journal articles!)
