Measurement and Evaluation of Project Effectiveness
Outcomes
The EBP project is focused on the implementation of an educational intervention that would ensure that the issue of lack of provider’s knowledge and adherence to opioid prescribing practices is effectively and substantially managed and eradicated. Such a transformation across the healthcare industry is bound to be established through the increased social support for the providers. This is by influencing their attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge and create supportive environments based on relevant resources and policies to create a platform for their increased self-efficacy across the healthcare setting (Gallagher, 2011). The primary outcomes of this project are the improved quality of life for acute and chronically ill patients as well as the improvement of the patient’s perception of care. The educational intervention approach is also bound to facilitate a significant reduction in the rate of opioid dependencies thereby combating the current epidemic across the United States. Overall, the project is geared towards the improvement of health for the patients and the increased competence and professionalism for the providers.
Benchmark
To increase the efficiency of the implementation process for the EBP project, the interpretation of data is structured around benchmarking activities. This entails conducting a detailed comparison of the outcomes of the project with other studies that have had similar outcomes across the local, regional, and national levels (Evans, 2010 – Essay Writing Service: Write My Essay by Top-Notch Writer). A comparative analysis can be done to Hopkins et al. (2011) who use educational intervention to inform nurses on how to handle and manage end-of-life issues for patients with chronic illnesses such as renal disease. According to the study, the intervention approach is based on educating nurses on their direct impact on the patients with renal disease to create a reliable platform for the initiation and discussion of end-of-life issues for these patients. By acquiring information and data about the performance levels and processes of similar projects, the issues of ambiguity and biases on the interpretation of data are eliminated. This creates a reliable analysis based on validity and on how to implement the educational intervention strategy across the healthcare setting.
Measure
The data analysis plan and approach to be used is a systematic mechanism through stratification that facilitates the analysis and collection of data on the effectiveness of the educational intervention strategy. This will be achieved by the separation of data from various sources to determine the common patterns to promote reliability and validity (Bannigan & Watson, 2009). The systematic mechanism is based on both qualitative and quantitative measures where statistical information and data based on the human element will be combined to determine the success and efficacy of the EBP. The acquired information for my project in the written capstone will be presented based on the impact of outcomes during implementation.,
Predicted result
The results will also show uniformity in the current prescribing practices across the healthcare industry that has contributed to the growth of the opioid epidemic. The predicted result is the commonality in the effectiveness of implementing an educational intervention to increase the level of self-efficacy for providers thereby minimizing their opioid prescribing practices.
Evaluation of the Result concerning the Benchmark
Numerous studies show that the provision of education and the creation of awareness are the most effective approaches towards managing clinical issues. To determine the extent of such a level of success, a benchmark will be set based on levels; < 10 is poor, 10 – 15 fair, 15-20 good, 20-25 excellent. The technique will be based on a comparative analysis on the extent to which each study and implementation approach meets the criteria of the EBP for my capstone project. Those that account for a score of more than 15 will be considered reliable for the project.
