Project One will allow you to make the connection between what you are learning in this class as it relates to our social world. The paper itself is DUE in Week Four (next week). This week, you will begin to prepare for Project One by selecting a video (see below) and providing some ideas on how it relates to sociology and the theoretical perspectives in Project One Preparation Online assignment help tutors – Discussion (see next module).

You will need to include 2 scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles in addition to your book. Directions
1. You are to select a video, commercial, or clip from a movie that has some sociological relevance or is of social relevance. You can chose videos from YouTube, the school’s library database (i.e. Kanopy), Netflix, commercial you have seen on TV, DVD, etc.
2. You are to provide a brief summary of the video discussing the content to the video itself. Next, using your sociological imagination, what relevance does this video have in the field of sociology? Why is it of importance? How does this help us better understand human behavior and the social environment? Be sure to explain. Here is where you can incorporate content from the book/course lecture as well as outside scholarly resources. DO NOT just give a summary—this will not earn you full points in this section.
3. You are then going to discuss and apply all three theoretical perspectives (functionalist, conflict, and interactionist) to the video and discuss each perspective’s views, concepts, ideologies, etc. as it relates to your video and discuss WHY. This is the application piece of what you are learning to what you are seeing in the real word. In this section, you also want to include a discussion on the important sociologists (i.e. Durkheim, Marx, etc.) and also incorporate discussion on what each sociologist would say about your video and WHY. You want to again incorporate course book/lecture notes and outside scholarly sources to better understand each of the perspectives’ view of the world/view of sociology itself and then how it relates to the video you picked and WHY. Finally, which theoretical perspective best represents your video and WHY. Be sure to provide thorough discussion and analysis.
