Part 1
First, choose one theory that interests/intrigues you from this context chapter that you may choose for your theoretical application. Briefly explain this theory and its main concepts. Make sure to address theory-relevant assumptions (axiology, ontology, epistemology), goals, and one limitation. (150-200 words.)
Theoretical Metaphor Mapping
For each of the two theories you address (in Discussion Question #1), add the following to your metaphor map:
a. Label the heading, “Context Theories”
b. Name of theory
c. Create a 2-4 sentence metaphor that explains/ compares the theory to another theory in the chapter.
d. Create a 2-4 sentence metaphor that explains/compares the theory to something non-academic (e.g., experience, object, nature) for a non-academic audience.
Part 2
Use one article (using a theoretical frame of interest from the chapter you read) on attached file. After reading the article, make two claims as to what can be revealed/seen using the theory as a framework of analysis. (150-200 words.) Hint: When searching for an article on the Communication and Mass Media Complete Database, use Advanced Search and use the name of the theory as a search term.
Reference Requirements:
1/ Skim (about 20-30 minutes) through the various contexts of communication and choose one new context of interest to explore in greater detail. Read one chapter particular to a context of interest.
